Big media fuss about bigot
4/29/10 11:43 am

Gordon Brown, whom I have met and is a very nice man, thought his microphone was turned off and called a bigoted old woman a bigot. The mostly Conservative owned press are pissing themselves with joy this morning, and, as a result, we may get Cameron as prime Minister, a man who spent his youth vandalizing pubs etc and being let off because his family are rich.

Unfortunately, in our experience, Senior British Citizens can sometimes be very racist. They don't even seem to realize they are racist which makes it worse somehow. Dan has 3 Polish men working for him now and we take our car to a Garage where the main mechanic is Polish, and they are very hard and excellent workers.

Immigrants have contributed a great deal to Britain over centuries and the vast majority of us are law abiding and hard working and it makes me mad when I hear folk saying anything against immigration. Even most of my Scottish relatives originally came from France and I can say with perfect truth that not a single member of our huge family has ever been in trouble with the law. I could tell what sort of person this woman was when I heard her on TV, and now she is famous. It makes me want to vomit.

Just found out about bigot and Murdoch
4/29/10 12:00 pm

Evidently the poor little pensioner bigot has gotten a 50.000 deal, to tell her story, from Rupert Murdoch of Sky TV. It was Sky's microphone that was left on. Anyone think this is all slightly suspect?

Here is another snippet of interesting info

In August 2008 David Cameron accepted free flights to hold private talks and attend private parties with Murdoch on his yacht, the Rosehearty. Cameron has declared in the Commons register of interests he accepted a private plane provided by Murdoch's son-in-law, public relations guru Matthew Freud; Cameron has not revealed his talks with Mr Murdoch.

Never give birth to an intelligent child------
4/30/10 05:36 pm

We finally had a visit from our Labor MP who is standing again, as they say here. I opened the door, and there he was, with several folk hovering by the space where the front gate would be if we had one.

He started to talk and I answered and he suddenly realized I may not be a voter, so he said he was sorry to bother me and I said I would be voting for him. He looked pleased and Rhys, who was standing holding onto my left leg, said "Mama's been Nationalized." He smiled and said "Mothers were very important people and he was happy to have our support."

Yes, we have been Nationalized for 4 years now and will be voting. For Labor. We will have an hung Parliament too and I just hope Clegg does not allay himself to the Conservatives because I do not like Cameron.

How folk manage without a Dan in their life and other sundry family matters
5/2/10 12:12 pm

Came home from early Mass and Dan told me we are going out to Dinner, to celebrate. We are, evidently, celebrating ourselves. Great, I have always wanted to celebrate me!! We are leaving the Trips next doorwith Clive and Andrea. They will probably be asleep because they think that lunchtime is bedtime.

Dan told me he came upon Harry and J--- standing close together minus their shirts. No, they were not having a Teenage Gay orgy it seems, they were examining their chests for hairs. Harry told J--- he had hairs on his chest and J---demanded to see them, so Harry said only if I can see yours. Unfortunately, Harry had only one which fell out when he touched it and J---had none visible at all. According to Harry girls just can't understand the importance of hairs. Hmmm.

For anyone concerned about Tink, the invisible Frog---YES---we still have him, what is more, Rhys has drawn him for us. The Frog is BJ's but Rhys plays along with him. He told me quite seriously that that was what brothers are for. This does not explain why he, William and Rhys argue about the Frog of course.

Brian is settling in and he and JB have a fine time together running up curtains and overturning waste baskets etc. Had a visit from our Priest in the week about the Trips and I had to apologize for the state of the house. I heard myself saying "I'm sorry for the mess but we have 7 kids and 4 cats here." The living room looked just like those photos you see of houses that have been destroyed by a hurricane. BJ and Rhys were sitting in the middle of the floor playing at knocking down things. Rhys builds and then he says "NOW" and BJ knocks everything down. The Trips were on a blanket and Aimee-Rose was banging her brothers about the head with a toy Rabbit and Joshua was sucking Josephs right ear. I had stuff all over the chairs waiting to be ironed and my hair hadn't been brushed and I looked as if I had been in a fight. Life is such fun here.

The kitchen had stuff I was preparing for lunch all over it, including a half made vegetable pie and the cats had spread their food all over the utility room floor and Brian was chasing JB's tail, while JB chased his. Ringo was on top of the refrigerator eating what looked like part of a bird. Herman, was, mercifully out.

Meant to mention that Sophia had a girl on April 2nd. I should have mentioned this before and I thought I had but when I checked I found I hadn't. The baby is called Olivia Grace Berger, because of course, Aron has the surname of his Father, whereas Dan has the surname of his Mother, having no Father. Got a photo of her and she is gorgeous, just like a mini version of Sophia.

Off out to Lunch now. Weather unpleasant but never mind as we are all fit and happy.

Family matters.
5/5/10 06:36 pm

We had a very nice outing on Sunday. Rhys and BJ behaved like angels. Rhys sat on two cushions and asked for a menu and the waiter gave him one. He looked it over very carefully and when the waiter came back for our orders Rhys pointed to where it said on the menu "Sausage and Chips" and asked if he could have mashed potatoes instead of chips and could he have some onion gravy. He got them too!

They did a very good Vegan loaf with various vegetables arranged around it like a flower. Dan had fish and chips. Dan loves fish and chips. Harry had what they called a fish platter and Anna-Louise had a veggie pizza. We had those chocolate mint things with our coffee {I didn't of course} and we all made things out of the wrappers. This is a Sierakowiak thing. We always make things out of wrappers. Dan always makes a goblet and Harry always makes a small boat. Anna-Louise and I just make a mess with ours, being totally untalented at manipulating small pieces of silvery paper.

BJ spent ages eating his ice cream and they gave him a little car which he promptly dropped in the ice cream. Dan had to rescue it. They gave Rhys a picture to color which he did very diligently. He brought a book with him and read it out loud, but no-one seemed to mind. It is difficult to deal with a kid not yet 4 who can re
ad anyhow, and Rhys is inclined to want to share what he is reading with the world.

Discovered that I could read before I began Schule also. Gisela told me when I spoke to her the other day. I hadn't remembered when I learned. I just can recall now I think about it, sitting on my Fathers knee while he read the morning paper and one day the words just started to make sense. It is weird to think of this, as I always think of my Father as being stern and serious but he must have been loving as well because I was a terrible wriggler.

The Trips are almost 6 months old. Aimee-Rose is bigger than her brothers and can almost sit up without help now. She sits up and waves her arms up and down and slides sideways. It is surprisingly funny to watch.

Have to go as BJ is shouting that I am sitting on Tink. Hmm. He must be squashed flat then!!

Quick note about Election and John Barrowman
5/8/10 12:04 pm

Our very nice Labor MP got in with more votes than at the last Election. This was the first big Election we could vote in and I was not very impressed. It seemed badly organized in some places and the voting results are weird. We look likely to be ruled by a Millionaire married to a Millionaire the son of a Millionaire who is tied to Rupert Murdoch and has secret meetings with him. How anyone in their right mind can believe that he can identify with folk like us, immigrants who have chosen to become citizens and who have 7 kids is a mystery to me.

Molly next door told us that the last time the Conservatives were in it was awful. They cut the ties to pensions and the cost of living so all the pensioners got worse off. They tried to get rid of the National Health Service and the cost of living rose every month.

Anyhow, Sully, where John lives, is, according to my Brother in law Tom, in the constituency of Cardiff and South Penarth and Labor won there. John came home on the 6th to vote evidently, so he must be pleased about that at any rate, although the rest of the news is depressing. He looked well as he arrived at Heathrow, so that is good news.

The trouble is, most of them did not cover the things I am concerned about. I want my kids to grow up in a safe society where minorities of race, color, or creed are accepted. Where they can have all the things they deserve as people living in a developed Country. Where they can go to University without getting huge debts. Where they can have happy and secure lives with all the best Medical care that is available. I don't want them growing up being lead by a man who boasts that he is riding a bicycle because it is green and good for the environment when not far behind is a great big limo making sure he is OK and who has never done anything to deserve his money or position in society.

Have to go now and pick up Anna-Louise from her singing lesson. She is to sing Ave Maria in Church tomorrow. The last time she sang in Church it was so beautiful it made me cry. I noticed some other folk looked a bit damp around the eyes too!

Aimee-Rose can sit up unaided. She is a very physical baby. Maybe an athlete in the making? The twins are still very wobbly. Have started them on Solids. Very exiting as they spit everything out or it dibbles down their chins. Have made some of my own baby sludge {as Harry calls it}. Aimee-Rose has a terrific gulp. They all have curly blond fuzz now. Dan says they all look like me, poor little things. They definitely suffer from the Hartmann lack of nose. You can always tell a Hartmann, my Brother Erik once told me, by their lack of nose. They also have the Sierakowiak ears. Oh dear me, I am comparing them to other people----bad Jennell.

Brian caught his first bird. We fitted him with the magnetic collar that opens the cat flap and he celebrated by bringing in a bird. It was not dead and when he dropped it on the Utility room floor it flew up to the ceiling and knocked itself unconscious. I grabbed it off the floor and was immediately surrounded by all four cats plus BJ and Rhys. The cats wanted to kill it and Rhys thought it was already dead and wanted to bury it someplace outside. I took it outside and wondered idiotically if you could give a bird the kiss of life, but it stirred so I put it in a tree. A prickly tree that the cats don't climb. When I looked out of the window later all 4 cats were waiting under the tree for it. I went to look and it wasn't there any more.

Anna-Louise has become very enthusiastic about cooking. Making cakes to be exact. She makes a terrible mess in the kitchen and everything is sticky but the cakes are fine. If only she wouldn't make such a mess. Rhys hates it. He goes into the kitchen when she is busy, looks around, groans, holds his head in mock despair and leaves. It is very funny.

Must go as I will be late. Dan is playing with the Trips, as I can hear them laughing. Rhys and BJ are next door and Harry has gone to Football. He will come home on his bicycle. We are all fit and well at the minute. YAHOO!!!!

Surprises for us all.
5/8/10 11:59 pm

Dan was speaking to his Mother and she said she is getting us all presents because some Bond she had {or something} has matured. We know what the kids are getting and I just thought I would quickly post that Anna-Louise is getting a Jack Harkness Toner Doll. She will love it. They are quite costly too. How she will get all this stuff on the plane I do not know. Anyhow, she will be here at the end of the Month for three weeks. Where she will sleep I do not know. {Thinks--I wonder if she could manage to sleep in the Loft space--- or maybe Dan and I could--the thrill of a low ceiling and spiders--}.

Trips are 6 months old today!!!

Puzzled.
5/12/10 09:18 am

"You've already asked me about the baby, that's good".
Quote from JB "Evening Times" interview.

Anyone noticed this? What is he talking about? No-one has mentioned it so I guess everyone but me knows whose baby he is talking about. Is his niece expecting?

Word for today
5/14/10 09:17 am

Have decided to post a word every day, and today's word is-----
Dachschaden---- because some of us do---

Word for Today
5/15/10 12:18 pm

Today's word is

Desinfektionsmittel--------You need a lot of this when you have 7 kids, 4 cats and 2 rabbits.May 16th, 2010

Word for Today.
5/16/10 10:50 pm

pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis----------A lovely long word in the English Language. According to Wikipedia it is--

a word that refers to a lung disease contracted from the inhalation of very fine silica particles, specifically from a volcano; medically, it is the same as silicosis.---

May 17th, 2010
Word for Today plus TV moans
5/17/10 05:56 pm

Word for Today is------Pound

Which can be, according to Molly next door, a Unit of currency, a weight, a lost dogs home, or to hit with force.

TV is rotten at the moment. Harry and Dan are addicted to "Eastenders" but they have turned it into a competition. Before each episode they choose a word and then bet how many times the word will be said in that episode. I think, as a program, it is unsuitable for the time it is shown. If I am free when it is on Anna-Louise and I play Sims 3 together. Kids get enough sex, violence and other things thrown at them wherever they go without watching it on "Eastenders". When Anna-Louise watched an episode when Harry and Dan started watching it she became upset about something or other and started to cry and now she says she doesn't want to watch it and neither do I.

Hallmark have been saturating us with adverts for "Royal Pains". Julian says this is a hit in the US but I was tired of it before it was even shown here because of the advertising and I don't see many adverts, so there must have been lots more. The star is ugly and, despite the fact he is described as a young doctor, Julian says he will be 40 next year and he looks older.

Dr Who is still going on and on despite the presence of Matt Smith. People say he has no eyebrows but they are probably like mine, just very fair. As a family we are short of eyebrows. I have seen bits of Dr Who and I am not impressed with Smith. What is it about playing the Dr that seems to turn people into weird lunatics? I first saw David Tennent on Dr Who and was unimpressed by his acting style, all that eye popping and hand waving and overacting, and now we have it again with Smith. I finally saw DT in something else and he was fine, so it was Dr Who that affected his acting, evidently.

The BBC are boring us to death as usual with Documentaries about animals, bird watching and such things. I don't like any of these. I have enough to think about without worrying about whether there will be tigers or a rain forest when my Kids are old people. TV companies also like to show programs about folk we have never met looking for houses in different parts of the Country or further afield. Some people love these they say but I don't really care if Mr Arthur Brown and his wife want to move from Somerset to Central Scotland and would the BBC help them. I am also not interested in seeing strangers trying to sell the antique clock their Grandmother always had in her Hall. I also hate things like "The Apprentice". According to figures many people love these programs so I guess I am weird.

Thinking about it I realize that I do not like TV very much at all. I like watching "Medium" because it is about a Mother with kids, who actually seem like kids. I like "Criminal Minds" because the acting is great and the stories are mostly well written. I like Documentaries about things like "The Bermuda Triangle" and ones that analyze past events. That is about all. Oh dear---I usually miss bits of most things I start to watch though because of a kid or a cat or something so maybe this has affected my impression of some programs.

Have to go now as I have Triplets that need feeding. They are about to get some lovely sludge----

May 18th, 2010
Word for Today plus fun at the Surgery.
5/18/10 06:18 pm

Word for today is-----wait for it----COLD--because the Trips have colds.

They were really what Molly next door calls "snuffly" and miserable this morning so I called our Doctor and was told to bring them in. Due to circumstances beyond my control I had to bring Rhys and BJ as well. Getting everyone in the Car took ages and the Trips kept screaming and Rhys kept putting his hands over his ears and moaning about the noise and BJ kept shouting things so by the time I reached the Surgery I was very frustrated, which is the polite word for it.

When I arrived, the receptionist looked at me and said "Hello, Mrs Sickowack". That's how she pronounced it and that made me cross because she has seen me lots of times before. The place was crowded with folk sniffing and coughing and blowing their noses. It was dreadful.

The Doctor confirmed that it was just what he called "the common cold", and I said snappily that he should try to deal with three 6 month old babies with colds, then he wouldn't call it common. I said sorry right away and he said he understood. Hmmm. Rhys wanted to listen to his chest through those things, the name of which I have forgotten, and our Dr let him and BJ kept touching everything and didn't like being restrained. It was great. {Sarcasm here}.

When I came out the Trips were screaming again and some idiot said to me "are they all yours?" I felt like giving her a slap but I just said very politely "yes, they are." " Goodness" she said, over the noise of screaming, "rather you than me." Which I later realized was quite funny.

Anyhow, they are now dosed with infant paracetamol because they were a bit feverish and I have a Vapor rub to rub on their chests and back. I rubbed some on and put them down for a nap and they are all asleep now. Yippee, etc.

The second part of Chapter Seven of Jack Harkness's Schooldays is waiting to be checked for major errors and so on. Have to go now as Anna-Louise is cooking with the dubious help of Harry.
If I am still alive tomorrow I will post----

Word for today plus thoughts about John in DH
5/19/10 11:35 am

The Trips are asleep, BJ and Rhys are at Kindergarten, Harry and Anna-Louise are at Schule, the Cats are out and the washing is washing itself so here I am---

Today's word is SCREAM because there has been a lot of this around here---

Now, onto DH. I had never watched this before John was in it because I don't watch Soaps--any Soaps. John was evidently in 29 mins all told in 5 episodes of this and I hope it was worth it for him because it certainly wasn't for me. The BBC have a great talent available in John and it would be an enormous pity if he went to the US just to appear in things like DH in small parts. The fact that he thought it was fantastic is, in a way, part of his charm.

John reminds me in some ways of my Harry a few years ago. He is somehow, to me, stuck emotionally at a young age, round about 11-13. This doesn't mean he isn't intelligent, I must add. The fact that he, a man of over 40, said that he still got into his parents bed with them on occasions, struck me as highly weird. It was like he is still a kid and then I thought, well, in a lot of ways he is. Having read both of his Autobiographies I noted that John's Father seems to have a number of somewhat juvenile qualities too so maybe it is hereditary, and he certainly isn't short of brain power.

Anyhow, I do not believe that Patrick, in DH, wouldn't have known how to build a bomb. I do not believe he wouldn't have known or expected it to end up in the Detonator and it still counted down which was idiotic, and could she have built that with the stuff he gave her? That's just a start. This was rubbish of a high order. I thought I had seen rubbish on German TV but they are amateurs compared to this. Why so many folk watch it I simply couldn't imagine but Dan explained Soaps to me. He said watching a Soap is rather like going to see a Plane Crash site, or a Train wreck. It happens and loads of folk stop to look or even go specially to the site. They might find it revolting or sickening but they still look and if it happened again they would stop and look yet again. Anyhow, John spent 9 weeks in the USA, so unless he met lots of Producers or something it was like an extended Vacation, I guess. Until he was unwell, of course.

Rhys said to me this morning that Kindergarten was so boring it was, to quote, "doing my head in". I think he got this from Harry. At the moment he is reading a book called "Horrid Henry." Enough said. He lies on the floor and reads. I told our Dr when we were there and he just said "good for him, give him lots to keep him occupied because he will get bored very easily." I guess I must have been a little bit the same, which is maybe why I was always climbing things and getting into trouble, and Georg was just the same.

We still have Tink and he goes to Kindergarten with BJ which is good. Yesterday he even went to see the Dr and our poor Dr had to examine him in case he had a cold. Just what we need around here, an invisible Frog with a cold.

Off now to collect the boys and the Frog from Kindergarten. Molly next door is home so she said she would watch the Trips---

May 21st, 2010
Word for Yesterday and Today.
5/21/10 10:16 am

I have a cold. I got it from the Trips. Now I know why they were screaming so much.

Anyhow, here is yesterday's word UNWELL.

Here is today's word. IMPROVING.

May 22nd, 2010
Word for Today.
5/22/10 01:19 pm

Word for today is Squidgy. This, according to Anna-Louise is how I feel. Hmmm.

What I did on May 31st 2010
6/4/10 04:21 pm

Half term.
Got up 6 am and cleaned and fed Triplets. All screaming and smelly.
Fed cats.
Fed rabbits.
Washed self etc.
Put BJ and Rhys in the bath with Harry watching them.
Threw wet sponge at Dan.
Encouraged Dan to watch Triplets.
Dried BJ and helped Rhys dry bits he misses. Dressed BJ and helped Rhys. Kissed Tink several times. {Not a chore as he is invisible}.
Got breakfast.
Ate breakfast and cleared up with help from Anna-Louise.
Separated bird from mouth of Ringo.
Went shopping in Tesco with help from BJ and Rhys. Cost came to 101.69. HELP!!
Lunch for all except Harry who is having a sleep over at John's.
Read "Horrid Henry's nits" to BJ and Rhys.
Went next door with gang {minus Harry} for Andrea's birthday.
Ate.
Danced a bit. {Frightening sight for all}.
Dan took Triplets home, fed them more sludge, bathed them and put them in their cribs. He told me he sang to them. Obviously they are not going to be musical.
Went home and put BJ and Rhys to bed. BJ moaning. Pretended to be a bit deaf and he gave up. Kissed Tink some more. Kissed boys too. Pretended to eat them. They love that.
Fed cats.
Separated frog from mouth of Brian. Frog dead unfortunately.
Found half eaten bird on top of Piano. Put it out.
Trod in some cat food in hall.
Played piano to accompany Anna-Louise in her violin practice.
Watched some TV. No idea what it was as got up three times in middle to deal with BJ crying that Tink had fallen out of the crib, Rhys banging his head on his bed headboard and Triplets screaming.
Played some Sims 3.
Typed this.

Almost certainly forgotten something----
